New Approaches in Solid Waste Recycling and Management in Erbil City

Solid waste management (SWM) is an integral part of environmental system. This study focused on the production urban solid waste, amount each and revenue from recyclable materials in Erbil City, Iraq's Kurdistan Region. The results show that average generation rate municipal (MSW) was around 1.338 kg/capita/day. Also, MSW usually contained combustibles (60%), non-combustibles (5%), (35%). weight percentages components were: organic material (35%), plastic (27%), paper corrugated cardboard (14%), metals (2%), glass (3%), yard trimmings wood products other types (16%). observed large quantities food were produced a common source. Additionally, expected income City for plastic, metal, cartons, papers 175 $/ton, 235 135 respectively.
